The MediaLab is hosting a series of technical workshops over the course of the 2026 Fall Semester. These low-pressure gatherings will be in a guided studio format, mixing lectures with hands-on practice where questions and conversation are encouraged.
The workshops are sequenced so that you can begin with basic computer know-how and slowly build a knowledge base of concepts, tools, and skills fundamental to media production. By the end, those who attend every session should be capable of recording, editing, and producing higher quality podcasts, videos, and presentations.
While scalable, the workshops are equally designed for drop-in, drop-out attendance. This series is an optional learning opportunity to develop transferable skills that can improve your performance as a student (or instructor) and increase your value in a variety of fields. Just as playing videogames can be a valuable way to learn creative problem solving, the process of video and podcast production builds a workflow that can translate to a variety of projects.
Join Ian Bentham, MediaLab Technical Coordinator, in Herrick Memorial Library's Computer Lab on Thursdays from 2:20 - 3:50, 8/27 - 11/19, for a workshop in media production. Ian brings a wide-range of practical experience including studio production work at PBS-Richmond in Virginia, audio and photography production at Rosetta Stone, and significant freelance/consulting work in live sports productions, political campaigns, and advertising/brand management.

NOTE: No workshops will be held on 10/1 or 10/8.
