First-year art and design students ask you to 'Listen Up'

Some 90 freshman art and design students in the Foundations program at Alfred University (AU) will show their work at an event titled “Listen Up, We’re Taking Attendance! A Foundations End of Year Exhibition” on Saturday, May 3 from 2-4 p.m. in their Cohen Studio Building, Main Street, Alfred. The event is free and open to the public.

AU hosting final blood drive of academic year

Alfred University (AU) will host its final blood drive of the academic year Monday, April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. in Powell Campus Center’s Knight Club. All blood collected during the AU visit, coordinated by Community Blood Bank, will stay within Allegany and Chautauqua counties.

Scholes lecturer will explain emerging, practical applications for glass surfaces

Dr. Carlo G. Pantano, distinguished professor of materials science and engineering at Penn State University and director of the Penn State Materials Research Institute, will deliver Alfred University’s (AU) annual Samuel R. Scholes Sr. Lecture at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, May 1, in Harder Hall auditorium on campus. The event is open to the public free of charge.

Interdisciplinary art seniors produce 'Basement Show'

The Alfred University (AU) Interdisciplinary Art (IART) Major welcomes viewers to attend the IART Senior Exhibition, highlighting the development of 10 artists who have been classmates and colleagues for the last four years.

“The Basement Show,” opening with a public reception Friday, May 9 from 5-8 p.m. in the Brick Studios Basement Gallery on campus, is a multimedia group exhibition featuring new work in drawing, sculpture, ceramics, painting, print, digital and neon installation, performance, and more.
