Learn reasons to 'Hold a Bird in Your Hand' at Bergren Forum

The final program for the academic year in Alfred University’s (AU) longstanding lunchtime series, the Bergren Forum, will be presented Thursday, April 30, at 12:10 p.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center. Frederic Beaudry, assistant professor of environmental studies at the University, will give the “Top 7 Reasons Why You Should Hold a Bird in Your Hand.” The program is free and open to the public.

Instrumental, vocal students to showcase talents at recital

The Alfred University Division of Performing Arts will host its spring 2015 instrumental and vocal student recital on Sunday, May 3 at 3 p.m. in Susan Howell Hall on campus. All are invited to attend this free event; refreshments provided by the music faculty will be served following the performances.

The students featured in the performances are from the studios of Dr. Lisa Lantz, Laurel Buckwalter, adjunct faculty members Genie Meltzer and Katie Pitts, and Daisy Wu of the Confucius Institute. Buckwalter will provide piano accompaniment.

MFA students exhibiting works on campus, in Alfred, Hornell

Now through May 8, Alfred University (AU) students who are candidates for the master of fine arts degree from the School of Art and Design will open shows of their work and deliver gallery talks at various locations in and outside of Alfred.

Symphonic Band sets program for spring 2015 concert

The Alfred University (AU) Symphonic Band, under the direction of Christopher Foster, will perform its spring 2015 concert on Friday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Theater. The public is welcome; admission is free.
