Make Art with us this Summer June 26 - July 22, 2023 Alfred Summer Arts offers 1 day, 1, 2 & 4 week workshops in a variety of media areas designed for participants working at all levels: artists, teachers, students, community members and visiting professionals.

Alfred University Summer Arts Program now includes residency on Maine Coast, courtesy of parents of 2019 graduate Mary Hall Keyes When Mary Hall Keyes ’19 graduated from Alfred University with her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, her parents, Sarah and Norman Keyes, decided they didn’t want their relationship with the University to end.

SUNY Chancellor John King visits Alfred University as part of 64-campus tour State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited Alfred University on Wednesday, April 26, as part of his tour of the SUNY system. King took office on Jan. 9 and later that month began visiting SUNY’s 64 institutions. The campus tours will wrap up in early May.

Alfred University MFA, BFA exhibitions scheduled The Alfred University School of Art and Design announces the schedule for Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibitions and Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibitions.

Faculty and students recognized at Alfred University Honors Convocation Students and faculty were recognized for their achievements during the annual Honors Convocation Friday afternoon, April 21, in Miller Theater. Among the honorees were Bethany Johnson, associate professor of psychology at Alfred University, who received the prestigious Abigail Allen Award, and students Knox VanRenselaar and Owen Nelson, named winners of the Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior Award.

Alfred University welcomes 17 new members into its Phi Kappa Phi honor society chapter Nine juniors and eight graduate students were inducted Thursday, April 13 into the Alfred University chapter of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in a ceremony at the Book End Lounge in Herrick Library.

MFA student Tianchan Chen featured on global MANA platform Tianchan Chen, an MFA student in Alfred University’s School of Art & Design + Performing Arts, recently received global recognition for his work “Infinitus,” which was selected as the top-ranking piece in the world by the MANA art platform, a media platform in the global art industry.

BFA student Kayle Hatfield awarded internship at NE Sculpture/Gallery Factory Kayle Hatfield, an Alfred University BFA student in the Sculpture Dimensional Studies Division in the School of Art and Design + Performing Arts, has been awarded a summer artist-in-residency internship at the NE Sculpture/Gallery Factory, in Minneapolis, MN.

Three Alfred University students join apprenticeship program hosted jointly by Casting Center, Urban Art Projects Three Alfred University students in the School of Art and Design + Performing Arts Division have been selected for an inaugural apprenticeship program hosted jointly by Urban Art Projects and Alfred University’s National Casting Center Foundry.

International musical trio conducts workshop for students, concert for university When The Trio from Three Continents visited Alfred University April 4 for an evening concert at Miller Theater, the musicians also met with numerous students for a workshop involving the musical instruments used in their performance.

Alumnus Nick Basta ’93 appearing in episode of new Netflix series, ‘Florida Man’ Alfred University alumnus Nick Basta ’93 will appear in an episode of Netflix new action/comedy series, “Florida Man,” which hit the streaming platform on Thursday, April 13.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography Nando Alvarez-Perez participating in Barely Fair 2023 at Rivalry Projects Nando Alvarez-Perez, visiting assistant professor of photography at Alfred University, is featured at Rivalry Projects in the Barely Fair 2023! The 2023 iteration of Barely Fair will be taking place April 14-23 at Color Club in Chicago’s Irving Park neighborhood.

Ceramic art by Associate Professor Matt Kelleher appears in Schaller Gallery exhibition Matt Kelleher, Associate Professor of Ceramics at Alfred University’s School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division, recently was featured in an exhibition in the Schaller Gallery, in Baroda, MI.

Work by Alfred University professor Sikora to be exhibited at Ferrin Contemporary Artwork by Linda Sikora, professor of ceramics at Alfred University, will be shown in an exhibition which opens later this month at the Ferrin Contemporary gallery in North Adams, MA.

Eric Souther, associate professor of video art, featured in film festival in Oklahoma Eric Souther, associate professor of video art at Alfred University, has work featured at Wide Open Experimental Film Festival, which will be held on April 22-23 at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on Oklahoma City, OK.

MFA Thesis Exhibitions Apr 08, 12:00 am - May 05, 12:00 am Harder Hall MFA Thesis exhibitions from the Division of Ceramic Art (CA), Electronic Integrated Arts (EIA) and Sculpture / Dimensional Studies (SDS) are held in the Fosdick-Nelson and Robert C. Turner Galleries weekly from April 8 - May 5, 2023 with receptions on Saturdays from 6-8pm, with the exception of the last exhibition, which will open on Friday. Open Gallery hours during thesis season are Sunday 1-3pm, Monday & Tuesday 11-4pm.

Choice: Judith Olson Gregory Mar 02, 6:00 pm - May 08, 4:00 pm Cohen Gallery Judith Olson Gregory’s layered wall hangings, constructed from tea bags and other delicate fibers, embedded text and layered patterns, reference iconic women and ask poignant, philosophical questions. The exhibition is on view through May 8, 2023. The gallery is open weekdays 11am - 4pm, and weekends 1-3pm.
