June 26 - July 22, 2023 Alfred Summer Arts offers 1 day, 1, 2 & 4 week workshops in a variety of media areas designed for participants working at all levels: artists, teachers, students, community members and visiting professionals.

When Mary Hall Keyes ’19 graduated from Alfred University with her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, her parents, Sarah and Norman Keyes, decided they didn’t want their relationship with the University to end.

State University of New York Chancellor John B. King Jr. visited Alfred University on Wednesday, April 26, as part of his tour of the SUNY system. King took office on Jan. 9 and later that month began visiting SUNY’s 64 institutions. The campus tours will wrap up in early May.

The Alfred University School of Art and Design announces the schedule for Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibitions and Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibitions.

Students and faculty were recognized for their achievements during the annual Honors Convocation Friday afternoon, April 21, in Miller Theater. Among the honorees were Bethany Johnson, associate professor of psychology at Alfred University, who received the prestigious Abigail Allen Award, and students Knox VanRenselaar and Owen Nelson, named winners of the Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior Award.

MFA Thesis exhibitions from the Division of Ceramic Art (CA), Electronic Integrated Arts (EIA) and Sculpture / Dimensional Studies (SDS) are held in the Fosdick-Nelson and Robert C. Turner Galleries weekly from April 8 - May 5, 2023 with receptions on Saturdays from 6-8pm, with the exception of the last exhibition, which will open on Friday. Open Gallery hours during thesis season are Sunday 1-3pm, Monday & Tuesday 11-4pm.

Judith Olson Gregory’s layered wall hangings, constructed from tea bags and other delicate fibers, embedded text and layered patterns, reference iconic women and ask poignant, philosophical questions. The exhibition is on view through May 8, 2023. The gallery is open weekdays 11am - 4pm, and weekends 1-3pm.
