The Third Annual ALFYS Awards ceremony, hosted by Saxon Nation and the Alfred University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), was held Monday evening, May 5, in Miller Theatre.
Several student-athletes were recognized for their achievements. Among the honorees were two recipients of the Nicholas F. Clark ’11 Ideal Saxon Award, presented in honor of Clark, a former football star who in 2018 lost his life while serving as a New York State Police trooper. Seniors Kenneth Allison of the men’s basketball team and Nyah Solly of the women’s soccer team are this year’s honorees.
Forty-four Saxons were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society during Monday’s ALFYS ceremony. Chi Alpha Sigma is the first national scholar-athlete society to honor collegiate student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom and in athletic competition. It recognizes student-athletes who have earned a varsity letter and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or higher.
