The School of Art & Design at Alfred in the New York State College of Ceramics at University is proud to present the 2026 Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Senior Exhibitions, an event celebrating the creative accomplishments of its graduating students. The exhibition will open with a public reception from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, and some exhibitions will remain on view through Sunday, May 17.
Spanning multiple venues across campus, the exhibition will be held in Harder Hall and the Cohen Studios, offering visitors a dynamic and immersive experience of contemporary art and design practices. Guests are encouraged to begin their visit at Harder Hall, located on the Alfred University campus, where maps and exhibition guides will be available in the Harder Hall main lobby.
The BFA Senior Exhibition represents a significant milestone in each student’s academic and artistic journey. As the capstone experience of the BFA degree, the exhibition reflects a year of intensive studio practice, critical inquiry, and mentorship. It is both a celebration and a moment of transition, honoring the dedication of students while welcoming them into the broader field of art and design.
“This exhibition is a defining moment for our students,” said Lauren Lake, Dean of the School of Art & Design. “It brings together years of exploration, risk-taking, and growth. We are proud to share their work with families, friends, and our extended community, it is a powerful reflection of the creativity and commitment that defines Alfred.”
The work on view has been developed under the close mentorship of faculty and with the essential support of dedicated technical staff—an approach that is central to the Alfred experience. The School of Art & Design is a vibrant community of artists, designers, and scholars where new knowledge is created in, through, and about the arts and design every day. What sets the program apart is its intentional mentorship, approach to materials and deep commitment to student success, cultivating a strong sense of belonging while fostering boundless creative possibility and innovation.
The exhibition will feature a wide range of media, highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of Alfred’s BFA program. Visitors can expect to encounter work in video, sound, printmaking, design, mixed media, drawing, photography, neon, glass, fibers, and ceramic art, among others. Each student’s work reflects the unique voice and vision of its maker, underscoring the diversity and depth of artistic practice within the school.
The opening reception on May 9 is free and open to the public. This milestone event invites families, friends, alumni, and community members to celebrate the achievements of Alfred’s graduating seniors and to experience firsthand the vitality of the School of Art & Design.
