Alfred University recently renewed an articulation agreement with Villanova University, Villanova, PA, through which students graduating from Alfred University would be guaranteed acceptance in Villanova’s nursing program for a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
Professor Geoffrey Lippa, chairperson of the Division of Biology and Biochemistry, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alfred University, said graduating seniors would be able to move into an accelerated program of nursing studies at Villanova that they could finish in either 12 months or 18 months.
In order to be admitted to the Villanova program, students would have to maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA at Alfred University, in addition to completing certain coursework, including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and classes in nutrition, sociology, psychology, and chemistry.
Lippa said advantages to Alfred University students include having the flexibility to decide later in their undergraduate career whether to pursue academic studies in nursing or in the university’s pre-med program.
He added Alfred University maintains a similar articulation agreement with the University of Rochester.
