Alfred University’s Black Glass Artist series will welcome artists Sam Drumgoole and Lyncia Berry to campus in March, as the series founded by then-undergraduate Adeye Jean-Baptiste enters its fifth season.
The series hosts artists from the African diaspora for residencies, workshops, and public talks and highlights Black artists in the glassblowing field.
Sam Drumgoole, a former Alfred University student and glass artist currently living in California, will offer two glass art demonstrations in the Hot Shop, on March 17 and 19 from 1:30 to 3 pm. Also on March 19, he will present a lecture from 5 to 6 pm in Room 106 of Binns Merrill.
Berry, a resident of Chesapeake, VA, will offer a glass art demonstration on March 31 and April 2 from 1:30 to 3 pm in the Hot Shop. Berry also will present a lecture on April 2 from 5 to 6 pm in Binns 106.
Jean-Baptiste graduated from Alfred University in 2023 and continues her practice in glass art. She recently held a residency in the Chrysler Museum of Art, in Norfolk, VA.
