Episode 5: The Shared Language of Art and Cinema
This talk examines how movies, particularly the films Assistant Professor of Painting Patrick Brennan grew up with in the ’80s and ’90s, shaped the way he thinks about painting. Before he had language for art, he was responding to cinema through rhythm, composition, emotion, and color. Those early influences continue to inform his studio practice today. These ideas later became the foundation for ART 300: Painting and the Movies, an advanced course he developed and teach here at Alfred University.
