About This Event

Episode 11: Survival of the Fittest? Tradition Translated and Adapted in Eastern Arts

AU faculty Zhongbei (Daisy) Wu, Clinical Associate Professor of Music and Language, and Zihao Chen, Clinical Assistant Professor of Art, have developed a long-term interdisciplinary dialogue grounded in their shared Chinese cultural background. As artists born and raised in the East but creating and teaching in the West, they will share their observations on how traditional Eastern music and visual arts evolve within a globalized context. The lecture explores how these traditions are "translated" for modern audiences and invites the community into an open discussion on the survival and transformation of ancient arts in the contemporary world.

The Bergren Forum, sponsored by the Division of Human Studies and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, runs from 12:15 to 1:10 p.m. on Thursdays in Nevins Theater in Powell Campus Center and by Zoom. Bring a brown bag lunch if you wish. Coffee and tea will be provided. For further information contact or a calendar invite with the zoom link, contact John D’Angelo.
