Institute for Electronic Arts awarded $25,000 grant from Council on the Arts

The New York State Council on the Arts has awarded a $25,000 grant to the Institute for Electronic Arts at Alfred University.


IEA receives $100,000 grant, largest in its history

Alfred University’s Institute for Electronic Arts, School of Art and Design recently received a $100,000 grant from the Harry T. Mangurian Foundation, the largest grant to date in the IEA’s history.


Expanded Media MFA Students Present Their Work to The University of Bonn

A few graduate students from Alfred University's Expanded Media program met with the University of Bonn's Institut Für Wissenschaft und Ethik (Institute for Science and Ethics) at the end of November via Zoom to present their current research and practice.

Sue Herdman ’63 donates collection of artwork, photography to Meskwaki Nation

Sue Herdman ’63, an artist and photographer, recently donated a collection of photographs and original artwork to the Meskwaki Nation, Sac & Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa. The works, which depict members of the Sac & Fox Tribe, will be displayed in the Meskwaki Tribal Museum in Tama, Iowa.


Alumnus Daniel Buckingham to open exhibition at Westwood Gallery in Utica

Alfred University alumnus Daniel Buckingham ’79 B.F.A., ’92 M.F.A., has an art exhibition that will open in December at The Westwood Gallery in Utica, NY.


Director of Foundations Mary Johnson presents on panel at SECAC conference

Mary Johnson, director of Foundations in the Alfred University School of Art and Design, chaired and presented on a panel discussion at the recent SECAC annual conference.

Alfred University faculty Daisy Wu completes musical arts residency at IUP

Zhongbei "Daisy" Wu, clinical professor of music and language at Alfred University, completed a two-day musical arts residency at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Oct. 12 and 13.

Alfred University will host its annual Day of Giving—“All In For Alfred”—on Founders Day, Tuesday, Dec. 5.

Reuben Nakian: The Impassioned Gesture

Reuben Nakian is best known for his large-scale bronze sculptures. However, Nakian left for posterity a large, highly significant body of work in the ceramic medium. It is this less recognized, but unquestionably important work the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum is celebrating with this exhibition.
