Policies

The Saxon Inn strives to provide you superior accommodations for a pleasant and enjoyable stay. In order to allow us to offer these accommodations to all future guests we ask you to observe and comply to a few policies.


Check In Time is 2:00 p.m. At least one guest 21 years of age with valid ID must be present to check in.

Check Out Time is 11:00 a.m. Any guest checking out after 11:00 a.m. will be charged an additional fee.

Smoking and the use of tobacco, e-cigarettes, vapes, marijuana, and any other smoking device or equipment is prohibited in any area inside of the Inn, as well as within 25 feet of all building entrances. If a guest is caught smoking or there is clear evidence of use by a guest, they will be charged a $200 fee. A second violation will result in the guest’s departure.

At the Saxon Inn, we welcome up to two house-trained, well-behaved dogs, who are up to date with vaccines, per room. The Saxon Inn has three designated dog-friendly rooms, which must be booked and confirmed in advance. A non-refundable fee of $50/day will be billed. To ensure a comfortable stay for all of our guests we ask dog owners to abide by the following policies:

Guest Responsibilities

  • Dogs may only be in the lobby (on leash or in crate) during check-in and check-out.
  • Once in house, dogs must be leashed or crated when entering or exiting the hotel. We ask that owners use the south entrance (facing the parking lot) during their stay.
  • Guests must clean up after their dogs and properly dispose of waste; dog waste bags are available on-site near the south entrance door.
  • Dogs are not permitted in the breakfast room.
  • If dogs are left alone in the guest room, please place the “privacy sign” on your door, and alert the front desk clerk of your projected return time.
  • Housekeeping will not service rooms with unattended dogs.

Liability & Damages

In addition to the daily charge, a $150.00 pre-authorization will also be charged to your credit card upon check-in. If your dog causes damage or if your room requires excessive cleaning, the cost of replacement, repair and/or cleaning will be deducted from your account. A damage inspection of your room may be conducted at any time during your visit, and will be completed when you check out.

The hotel reserves the right to remove disruptive dogs (e.g., excessive barking, aggression) without a refund. Additional fees may also apply for costs associated with disruptions.

Legislation

Local laws and insurance responsibility requirements must be followed by your dog. The guest consents to release, defend, and indemnify the Saxon Inn and Alfred University from all claims or damages, including those made by third parties, relating to your dog or your dog's stay at the Saxon Inn.

Guests are responsible for reimbursing the Saxon Inn for any damage done to the property, and are also required to return the room in an acceptable condition. Guests should report any pre-existing issues upon arrival to avoid being charged for them. 

Reservations made within 24 hours of arrival cannot be cancelled. 

For all dates other than Special Event Weekends, cancellation must be received by 4:00 p.m. the day before arrival. 

For Special Event Weekends (Family Weekend, Hot Dog Day, Reunion Weekend, and Homecoming), a 30-day cancellation notice is required to avoid a cancellation fee. Saxon Inn will charge $50.00 for cancellations made up to seven days prior to arrival. Guests will be charged full payment plus tax seven days prior to arrival. Cancellations will not be accepted for one night (Friday and Saturday night stays are required for Special Event Weekends). Once a reservation is canceled the room is then surrendered to the Saxon Inn. 

  • Cash: Cash (USD) is accepted at time of check-in.
  • Credit/Debit Card: American Express, Discover, Mastercard and Visa are accepted. Reservations are only "guaranteed" when a valid credit card number is provided. The name on the card must match the registering guest name, or a third-party credit card authorization form must be completed and approved by management.
  • Checks: Saxon Inn does not accept personal checks. Corporate checks can be approved by contacting the General Manager.
