Alfred University collects first destination outcomes for graduates in accordance with standards established by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). The purpose of this process is to identify the post-graduation activities of graduates within six months of graduation.
The Career Development Center gathers outcome information through multiple sources to maximize the completeness and accuracy of reported data. Primary data collection occurs through the First Destination Survey administered through Handshake. Graduates are invited to voluntarily report their employment, graduate school enrollment, military service, service programs, continuing education, entrepreneurial activities, or ongoing job search status.
To improve institutional knowledge rates, outcome information may also be collected from additional sources, including faculty and staff reports, institutional records, employer feedback, publicly available professional profiles, and other publicly available information. These supplemental sources are used to verify and document outcomes when graduates do not respond directly to the survey.
Outcome data are reviewed, verified when possible, and reported in aggregate form. Individual student information is not publicly disclosed. Reported outcomes reflect information known to the University at the time data collection is finalized and may not represent subsequent career or educational changes.
Alfred University is committed to collecting and reporting graduate outcomes in a manner that is transparent, accurate, and consistent with national best practices. For questions or concerns, contact the Career Development Center.
