Alfred University is a private, nonsectarian university of about 1,700 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. Alfred is home to the Inamori School of Engineering, School of Art and Design, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and College of Business. AU is located between the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and the picturesque Finger Lakes in Western New York State.

AU accepts students on a rolling basis starting in late November.
Alfred University will be test optional for the 2024-2025 academic year. High school students applying for Spring 2025 or Fall 2025 admission may apply without submitting SAT or ACT scores, however, students have the option of including scores if they choose.
Alfred University will accept: AP/IB/and a variety of college credit courses. Please speak with a counselor for more information.

Life at Alfred University is far from ordinary and we invite you to introduce one of your extraordinary students to what we can offer. Based on a nomination from a school counselor, principal or nominating committee, one current junior from every high school will be eligible for the Alfred University Scholars Award - up to $30,000 per year!
The selected recipient will receive $30,000 per year or, for New York State students only, $18,000 per year if enrolling in our School of Art and Design, Biomaterials Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Glass Engineering Science or Materials Science and Engineering programs.

We invite you to nominate a student from your campus who you believe will thrive on our campus.
Each year, up to 5 students enrolled in a community college degree program will be eligible to receive this transfer scholarship to Alfred University. A faculty, staff, or nominating committee may submit the name of a current student you feel fits the description above and meets the qualifications below. The selected recipient will receive $30,000 per year (or $18,000 per year for NY State students attending our Art & Design or Materials Engineering programs receiving SUNY support) while attending AU.
Scholarship Qualifications:
Encouraging talented students to pursue careers in science and engineering is critical to our nation's future in the global economy. These careers require mathematical abilities and scientific knowledge as well as strong communication skills. Therefore, The Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering and the Ceramic Association of New York (CANY) are pleased to recognize a student who demonstrates a solid mathematical and scientific background while also excelling in English. The selected recipient will receive $2,500 per year, in addition to their Alfred University merit award, until graduating from Alfred University should the nominated student apply and be accepted to Alfred University in a STEM related field.
