Breaking News!

Communication studies introduced Franchesca Feliz to a field she had never considered pursuing before: journalism. She joined AU’s student newspaper, Fiat Lux, as an undergrad. She first worked as a staff writer, then as a social media officer, managing editor and the editor-in-chief. Her experience helped secure her a position at NY1 News, the 24-hour news channel for New York City. She’s now a producer-videographer at BronxNet Television.

Majoring in communication studies taught me a ton about communication among friends, family and colleagues, and it also opened the doors to my passion.

Franchesca also participated on a radio show at WALF 89.7 FM, Alfred University’s student-run radio station, with some of her classmates. She spent a lot of time in Powell and Openhym while on campus, and she also enjoyed going into downtown Alfred. Nana’s Japanese Café and the Terra Cotta were her favorite spots to grab a bite to eat and hang out with friends.
