With a temporary facility located behind Binns-Merrill Hall and a new, state-of-the-art facility planned for construction in the newly renovated Physical & Heating Plant building, the National Casting Center Foundry provides metal melting facilities and classroom space for the School of Art and Design's sculpture and dimensional studies program.
The new foundry will provide state-of-the-art facilities for metal casting, welding, forging, and 3D printing for metal casting. It will serve as a hub for hands-on learning and research, fostering creativity and interdisciplinary collaboration between art and engineering students.
The expanded National Casting Center will enhance existing facilities, offering more opportunities for students to engage in personalized research and experimentation in a cutting-edge environment. Construction is schedule to be completed in 2026.
