Alfred University Assistant Professor of Education Mina Sedaghat Jou and Anton Puvirajah, Assistant Professor of STEM Education at the University of Western Ontario, will present the March 3 Bergren Forum: "Empowering underserved and underrepresented students through computational thinking and modeling."

They write: “This presentation will discuss how Computational Thinking (CT) skills have become so important and have been integrated into social functions which are now considered crucial. Current students enter a workforce that is constantly changing and heavily influenced by computing technology. The lack of CT skills may exacerbate the equity gap affecting the underserved population. This should be addressed through equitable CT-based education.”

The Bergren Forum weekly lecture series is held at 12:10 p.m. Thursdays and is currently carried on the Zoom platform. The Zoom link for Bergren forums may be obtained by e-mailing Marilyn Saxton.
