SaraBeth Post will be visiting the Alfred University campus the week of Feb. 7 as part of the School of Art and Design’s Black Glass Artist Series.

ALFRED, NY— SaraBeth Post will be visiting the Alfred University campus the week of Feb. 7 as part of the School of Art and Design’s Black Glass Artist Series.

Post will lead a public demonstration of glass art craft Thursday, Feb. 10 from 9 to 11 am in the University’s Hot Glass Shop, Harder Hall, followed by an artist talk from 5 to 6 pm in Binns Merrill Room 106-C.

Post is an interdisciplinary artist primarily utilizing glass in sculpture, utilitarian wares, and jewelry. She earned her B.F.A. degree in glass and three dimensional studios in 2015 from the University of Louisville. Her studies of pattern and color pave a path to explore human development juxtaposed to spirituality. Her production line is produced under the name Ultra Lit, a pen name coined as a reflection on her navigation in the world as a mixed race light-skinned woman. The Black Glass Artist Series has received the support of the University’s School of Art and Design and its Sculpture Dimensional Studio Division; the Alfred University Student Senate; and Olympic Color, of Seattle, WA. Another visiting artists in the series, Cedric Mitchell, will visit campus the week of Feb. 21 and will give his artist talk on Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. in Binns Merrill Hall, 106-C.
