Work by Alfred University School of Art and Design faculty Adero Willard, visiting professor of ceramics, is featured in an exhibition currently on view at the Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN.

The exhibition, titled A Gathering: Works from ‘Contemporary Black American Ceramic Artists,’ brings to life the pages of the newly-published book, Contemporary Black American Ceramic Artists, written by exhibition curators Donald Clark and Chotsani Elaine Dean.

The exhibition included a panel discussion titled “At the Precipice of Healing: Power and Change from Their Hands,” which was held Oct. 6. Exhibition artists engaged in meaningful discussion about their creative process in response to the collective trauma following the murder of George Floyd and a COVID-19 pandemic.

A Gathering: Works from ‘Contemporary Black American Ceramic Artists’ is on view at Northern Clay Center through Oct. 30. It will be exhibited May-August 2023 at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, CA, and September 2023-March 2024 at Springfield Museums in Springfield, MA.
