Alfred University Theatre Department presents ‘Marisol’
The Alfred University Theatre Department’s production of “Marisol,” an intense and powerful theatrical showcase of magical realism, will be staged Nov. 9-11 in Miller Theater on the Alfred University campus.
The curtains open at 7:30 p.m. for each of the three shows, which are free and open to the public.
Marisol is a two-act play written by Puerto Rican playwright José Rivera, who won a 1993 Obie Award for playwriting for the work. The play’s main character, Marisol, is a young professional used to life on her own in the wilds of the big city. But everything changes on the day she wakes up to find the world has crumbled in a surreal dystopia, the battleground of a war between the angels and God.
The production at Alfred University is directed by Randy Wachtel, clinical professor of practice in production management in the Division of Performing Arts. While the shows are free, reservations are required, and can be made by scanning the QR code in the image above.
