Alumni join Dean Lauren Lake at conference for National Council for Arts Administrators

Five Alfred University alumni joined Lauren Lake, dean of the University’s School of Art and Design and Performing Arts Division, at the 50th annual National Council for Arts Administrators (NCAA) Conference, Sept. 27-30 in St. Louis, MO.


The conference was hosted by the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art at Washington University. Its theme was “This Complicated Heritage,” with sessions dedicated to exploring how history is reshaped by the complexities of our time, and their impact on arts administration.

Alfred University alumni in attendance included: Sandra Murchinson ’95, B.F.A.; Tyler Lotz ’00, M.F.A.; Brooke White ’99, B.F.A.; Elissa Armstrong ’02, M.F.A.; and Dee Miller ’95, B.F.A.

Murchinson is director of the School of Art and Design at Eastern Michigan University; Lotz is director of the Wonsook Kim School of Art at Illinois State University; White is professor of art and head of Imaging Arts at the University of Mississippi; Armstrong is an associate professor in the Department of Craft/Material Studies in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she served as director of the Foundations Program from 2009-20; and Miller is chair of Photography at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, OH.
