SOAD Dean Lauren Lake named president of the National Council for Arts Administrators

Lauren Lake, Michele and Marty Cohen Dean of Alfred University’s School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division, recently was named president of the National Council of Arts Administrators (NCAA). Her two-year term began on Jan. 1.


NCAA is a community of current and future arts administrators in higher education. For 50 years the organization has promoted, enhanced, and maximized communication among administrators from all types of arts institutions large & small, public & private, liberal studies & professional, secular & faith-based.

The National Council of Arts Administrators is an organization whose primary purpose is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, the identification of problems, and the generation of shared solutions to the multitude of issues that confront arts administrators in higher education today.

This exchange is focused to address:

1. Creating a safe space for complex conversations for arts administrators in higher education.
2. Supporting advocacy for impactful art leadership.
3. Mentoring leaders in the field.

Lake has been joined by Sandra Murchinson ’95, who has been named secretary of the organization.
