Alfred University Delta Sigma Phi brothers fundraising for Fasano House renovations
Alfred University alumni brothers of Delta Sigma Phi are raising funds to renovate the fraternity’s former house on Main Street in Alfred.
The group seeks to raise $225,000 to support repairs to the Fasano House, which is home to offices in University Advancement. The three-story Victorian-style house, highly visible at the village of Alfred’s main intersection, serves as an alumni welcome center for events like Reunion and Homecoming, where Delta brothers can gather and reminisce.
“My four years at Alfred University, and more importantly in Delta Sigma Phi, were life-altering and rewarding,” said Delta brother Greg Lynch ’72 who, along with fellow Delta brother Jon Hoek ’72, is helping organize the fundraising effort. “During my time as a Delta brother, I made close friendships that have lasted 55 years. We have an opportunity, in partnership with the University, to preserve our house for eternity.”
“Alfred University gave me a generous scholarship, my college education, my career as an educator, and my spouse. Delta Sigma Phi gave me a band of brothers I still see regularly. Eight years as chapter supervisor gave me even more brothers,” Hoek said. “I’m asking all of you to join me by giving to the restoration project. Think big, Delta Sig!”
Work will include painting, woodwork repairs, and rehabilitating the portico. In a letter to Delta brothers, Lynch and Hoek cited a similar effort organized recently by a group of alumnae who resided in The Brick. That group raised more than $15,000 to repair the main door and entryway at the iconic residence hall.
“We are proposing a similar arrangement for the Fasano House in an effort to maintain our beautiful house. To ensure that future events can be held at ‘the House,’ we ask for your consideration of making a pledge to this important and critical project so we can all enjoy the results in June of 2024 and beyond,” Lynch and Hoek wrote.
To date, approximately $117,000 has been raised for the Delta Sigma Phi renovation project.
Other Delta brothers organizing the fundraiser include Joe Fasano ’54, Greg Connors ’92, Kevin Livingston ’93, Steve Heine ’81, Jeff Angell ’75, Jeff Gonzalez ’76, and Carl Blanchard ’60.

Alfred University will host an event at the house for Delta brothers on Friday, June 7, during Alumni Reunion weekend.
