Alfred University students at the International Flameworking Conference
On March 17–19, 2023 students from the School of Art and Design, Division of Sculpture Dimensional Studies and School of Engineering in the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University attended the 2023 International Flameworking Conference at Salem Community College in Carneys Point, NJ.
The conference included demonstrations, lec-mos, and exhibitions of work created by highly skilled contemporary artists. Highlights included a glass performance with a Theremin by Amy Lemaire and Madeline Rile Smith, a hollow-sculpted life-size rat by Caterina Urrata Weintraub, and a goblet with an elaborate decorative stem the theme of "When Pigs Fly" by Cedric Ginart and Karina Guevin.
