Wednesday, September 6, 4:30pm Visiting Artist Glass Sculptor Anne Petters Binns Merrill 106 Room C. Anne Petters is a multi media artist with a strong background in glass. She received a Diploma in Fine Arts from the Institute for Ceramics and Glass Art, Hoehr-Grenzhausen, Germany and a MFA in Sculpture/ Glass from Alfred University, New York. Born in Dresden in 1978, she grew up in the German Democratic Republic. She understands the political change in her country, which she experienced as a displacement of reality, as a basic influence on her lifestyle and artistic work. Her interest in controlling and displaying moments of our fleeting, vulnerable existence leads her to a poetic, metaphoric use of glass and other materials, including natural phenomena.
Friday, September 8, 6-8pm Reception “Then & Now Alumni Pop-up Exhibition” Robert C. Turner Gallery A one-time transmedia showing of alumni work. Each artist can exhibit original work from their time at Alfred and/or a contemporary piece.
Friday, September 8, 6-8pm Reception “Andy Brady: Steward of Precision” Fosdick-Nelson GalleryThis exhibition presents over 25 extraordinary works from the archives of this esteemed Alfred University Professor of Printmaking (1970-76). Brady was a standard bearer of clear thought transposed into visual mediums through expertise and an exceptional standard of workmanship. This exhibition re-examines the astonishing work he produced through a wide range of print media.
Saturday, September 9, 10am-2pm Theatre Auditions for “Marisol” Rod Brown Acting Studio in Miller (Room 211). Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and are open to any AU student and/or community member, regardless of major or experience.
