Announcements


Reminder: Please only post flyers or posters on the gold boards in our buildings and only on bulletin boards in others. Please do not use tape or other hanging materials on walls, windows or doors. This becomes difficult for the custodial staff to clean.

Building Hours: Harder Hall / Binns-Merrill Hall 6 am-midnight, 7 days per week
Miller Performing Arts Center Monday-Friday: 7 am-11 pm, Saturday-Sunday: 7 am-10 pm

*Holiday Hours over the Thanksgiving Break: no students, faculty or staff should enter the buildings at any time. from Wednesday November 23 through Sunday November 27.

HH 51 Computer Lab Hours: Sunday 12-12, M-F 5-12 *for enrolled SOAD students.

AUDITIONS FOR SPRING PLAY  Alfred U Theatre Auditions for spring play, The Little Dog Laughed November 16, 6-9pm in Miller Performing Arts Build, Rod Brown Acting Studio / Rm 211. Please prepare a contemporary monologue (2000 – present) in the style of the show. Monologue can be a from a movie, TV or play and should be no longer than 90 seconds. Please read the script before auditions and able to speak to the questions about the show. The script is available in the Herrick Library reserves section. Or you may email the director Kolton Bradley for a digital copy  bradleyk@alfred.edu

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY The Institute for Electronic Arts (IEA) at Alfred University seeks a part-time research assistant. This internship will be 10hr/week at $14/hr with the generous support of the William Gold Learning Fund. Our ideal candidate would have experience in database management and art handling. All candidates must have precise attention to detail and be conscientious about the scope of responsibility of creating a database for an institute of this scale. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain first-hand experience working with a physical art archive and database management.

Student proposals requesting Spring 2024 funding from the Alfred Research Grants for Undergraduate Students (ARGUS) program are due by midnight on December 1, 2023. Instructions for preparing and submitting a proposal, and supporting application materials, can be found at the link below. Please be aware that proposals not following the required format will be returned without review.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY Art Makers Apprentice Program Seeking 2-3 students for paid internship for 6-8 weeks. Starts June 1, 2024. Application Deadline Dec 1st 2023. Gain hands-on experience of working on a variety of public art projects and foundry practices at UAP’s extraordinary art making facility located in the Hudson River Valley, NY. The Art Makers Apprentice will experience and be a part of real-world interactions between artists, designers and makers related to the large-scale production of art and metal casting. Eligibility: Graduate and Undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Art and Design. More Info and Apply
