Thayer Fellowship in the Arts / Patricia Kerr Ross Award Application Deadline February 23, 2024

The Thayer Fellowship and the Patricia Kerr Ross Award are given each year to outstanding candidates for graduation from The State University of New York.

Two Thayer Fellowships of $7,000 each may be given to one individual or divided among two outstanding candidates. The Fellowship selection is based on talent, achievement, and potential as a professional artist. The Ross Award of $1,000 is given annually to an individual or divided among two exceptional applicants. The basis for this award is excellence, originality, and promise. The awards are available to seniors and graduate students in the arts who are about to graduate from the University and make a career in the arts. They are not intended for students going on to graduate school.



Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris Fellowship Unique opportunity for two graduating students (one SOAD BFA/BS and one MFA) to spend two months working within a community of artists in Paris.


  • Deadline: Friday, February 29th, 2024, at midnight
  • Eligibility: graduating BFA/BS and MFA students *(i.e must graduate in December 2023 or May 2024)

To apply, submit the following as a single PDF file:

  • 1-page proposal explaining why you wish to go to Paris and the work you intend to pursue
  • Sample of work: 10-15 images of recent work, with captions (title, date, material, etc.); for video, include a 5-minute (max) piece which can be sent as a link in your email; for art history, a 2-3 page project proposal.

AKO Leadership Awards
Generously supported by the sisters of Alpha Kappa Omicron, the AKO Leadership Awards honor two students each year who exemplify excellent and inclusive leadership! Applications open January 15. Selection of award recipients will be announced by March 11.

Applications are due February 28, 2024

AKO Achievement Award recognizes a sophomore who has demonstrated excellence in personal academic leadership. Students must have a minimum 3.25 GPA, must be enrolled full-time, and cannot be a transfer student. They must also be active in at least one academically associated organization on campus. This award includes a $250.00 honorarium.

AKO Social Change Leadership Award recognizes a junior for their superior efforts in creating positive change. This award honors a student who embodies the values of integrity, common purpose, collaboration, and commitment. Students must have a minimum 3.00 GPA and must be enrolled full-time. They must also show leadership in a club or organization. This award includes a $500.00 honorarium.

3 Dimensional Work: If intended for a pedestal, 10 inch minimum – 30 inch maximum width, 36 inch maximum height
If intended for the floor- 7 feet tall/ 8 feet wide and 75 lb maximum.
