Steven Tidrow, Inamori Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering, has been named a 2019 Global Ambassador by the American Ceramic Society (ACerS).


ALFRED, NY – Steven Tidrow, Inamori Professor of Materials Science and Engineering in Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering, has been named a 2019 Global Ambassador by the American Ceramic Society (ACerS).

The Global Ambassador Program recognizes dedicated ACerS volunteers worldwide who demonstrate exceptional leadership and/or service that benefits the Society, its members, and the global ceramics and glass community. Each year, up to 15 Global Ambassadors are selected to receive the honor.

ACerS President Sylvia Johnson and Executive Director Mark Mecklenburg presented Tidrow with his Global Ambassador citation on Jan. 30, at the 43rd International Conference and Expo on Advanced Ceramics and Composition, held in Daytona Beach, FL.

The honor was given in recognition of Tidrow’s “leadership, commitment and dedication to the advancement of ceramic education and research; his leadership in the ACerS Electronics Division; his leadership and support of EMA, MCARE, PanAm Ceramic Congress, and other ACerS meetings; and his global collaboration with the ceramics community.”
