Alfred University alumnus Bryan Karl ’86, a former soccer player for the Saxons, was inducted into the Allegany County Sports Hall of Fame last weekend.


HOUGHTON, NY -- Alfred University alumnus Bryan Karl ’86, a former soccer player for the Saxons, was inducted into the Allegany County Sports Hall of Fame last weekend.

Karl was one of nine members of the 2019 Hall of Fame Class inducted during a ceremony Saturday, March 23, at Houghton College.

Before graduating in from Friendship Central School in 1982, Karl starred in soccer and basketball. He started three years on the varsity in each sport, earning All-County honors twice in soccer and once in basketball. As a senior, he was named the Allegany County Most Valuable Player in soccer.

Karl would go on to Alfred University, where he played three seasons on the men’s soccer team (1983-85) before earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1986.
