On Feb. 8, 2020, the AC BRAGGS 1N C0DE competitive robotics team, based at Canaseraga (NY) Central School, hosted its very first VEX in the Valley high school robotics competition. The Inamori School of Engineering at Alfred University is a sponsor of AC BRAGGS 1N C0DE team.

A group of Alfred University engineering students provided assistance and mentorship during the competition. The group included Benjamin Aronson, William “Dutch” Alles, Jessica Fletcher, Alessio Ardita, Dakota Piehler, Chris Mayo, Tim Mayo, and Irving Sesmas. The competition was titled “Tower Takeover.” The object was for teams to use their robot to stack as many blocks as possible into their scoring zone. Any blocks placed into the towers become “multipliers” for that color block.

The Vex Robotics Volunteer of the Year award was presented to Emilie Carney, assistant dean of the Inamori School of Engineering, for the time and effort she gave during the summer and on weekends while planning the event.
