Biography
Dr. John J. Simmins is Director of Alfred University's GE Vernova Advanced Power Grid Lab. The Advanced Power Grid Lab benefits students in the Alfred University Inamori School of Engineering’s Renewable Energy Engineering and Electric Engineering programs by providing them with access to state-of-the-art equipment and training in power grid planning and operations, preparing them for careers in the growing renewable energy industry. A former Executive Director of the New York State College of Ceramics Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT), Dr. Simmins also has expertise in the intersection of augmented reality, artificial intelligence and geospatial information systems developed while previously employed for 10 years at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
