Melissa Moore

Melissa MooreMelissa Moore is a native of Elmira, NY. She holds a Master of Music degree in Performance and a Certificate in Chamber Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, where she served as the flute studio teaching assistant and performed with the graduate woodwind quintet. As a student at UW - Milwaukee, Ms. Moore won the Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Ms. Moore received a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance and Education from Ithaca College, where she performed with the symphony orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall at Lincoln Center in 2005.

In addition to performing regularly as a member of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, Ms. Moore presented a recital in the fall of 2012 for the Thursday Morning Musicales recital series at Mandeville Hall. In April of 2014, she presented a chamber music performance for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes Chamber Music Series at the Rockwell Museum in Corning, NY. Her program, " Come Together, " will explore generational, geographical, and cultural connections between various genres and periods in music. She maintains an active private woodwind studio, teaches instrumental, vocal, and general music at Holy Family Elementary School (Elmira), serves as the music and children's music director at First Presbyterian Church (Elmira), and is the music librarian for the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes. She resides in Elmira, NY with her husband Brian, and their three dogs.
