Coastal Maine: The Words Between the Waves 6/10 - 6/15
This is for writers of all kinds -- poetry, fiction, essay, playwriting -- who are serious about writing. Even for new writer, my hope is participants will arrive with a plan (a series of poems? essays? The beginning chapter of a book? Part of a memoir?) they will work on during our time together. I also hope they will be willing to try new things. Mornings, we will focus on various writing exercises in description and metaphor, dialogue, setting, brainstorming, word choice, line and stanza break (what else can you think of?). We will spend time meditating and doing some movement work, to "get into" the day's work. Come with whatever questions you have, and we will investigate the answers. Afternoons, we will use for hiking the area around us, which is certain to inspire new work. Evenings, we will come together, to rest, to get to know each other better, and read from our work, or other favorite writers, if we feel the pull to do so.
