Senior to publicly premiere horror drama written and directed as senior theater project

“The Devil’s Triangle,” a horror drama written and directed by Andrew Hazer, an Alfred University (AU) double major in English and theater, will debut Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the C.D. Smith Theater, Miller Performing Arts Center. Two additional performances are slated for and Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. Admission is free. National casting center invites community to 'Pour Your Heart Out' fundraiser

Alfred University’s (AU) National Casting Center Foundry, 1016 Route 244, Alfred, will be the site of the “Pour Your Heart Out” event sponsored by the Sculpture Dimensional Studies Division, Saturday, Feb. 13 from 1 until 5 p.m.


The Center invites the community to “Make Art for a Cause;” all proceeds will go equally to benefit the Eaklor (an AU professor) Medical Expenses Fund and The Foundry Guild Student Club. The event is open to adults and children (with supervision); a small donation is required to make your keepsake.

Bergren Forum to offer tips on winter driving using a chemistry point of view

Alfred University’s (AU) longstanding lunchtime series, the Bergren Forum, continues Thursday, Feb. 18, at 12:10 p.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center with a new look at winter driving. The program is free and open to the public.

In the presentation “Understanding Chemistry through Cars – The Chemistry of Winter Driving” Geoff and Ruth Bowers, chemistry professors at AU, will not only lecture but also demonstrate how chemistry keeps us safe while driving during the winter using simple chemical demonstrations.

Painting professor recognized with grant from Pollock-Krasner Foundation

Alfred University (AU) faculty member Kevin Wixted, professor of painting, School of Art & Design, has been awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant for 2016.

The Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Inc. was established in 1985 for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to individual visual artists of established ability.
