About

The Students Engineering Project (STEP) Lab

The Student Engineering Projects Lab (STEP Lab) is one of the Mechanical Engineering labs that students can use to complete assigned and personal projects. The lab contains a machine shop that students can get trained in and use for their projects as well as the option to be trained in welding. The lab is open to all majors and has knowledgeable staff that can assist students with their projects as well as instruct them in the safe use of the lab.

The STEP Lab offers space and tooling for clubs such as the SAE Baja team and Tiny House. Students utilize the lab for some of their projects such as Pinehill Derby, Pinewood Derby, and Electric vehicle.

Inside a workshop marked 'PROJECTS AREA,' several people are gathered around a large wheeled vehicle in progress. The garage-like space features tools, cabinets, and workbenches along the walls. Some individuals appear to be discussing or examining parts of the vehicle, while others look on. The atmosphere suggests a collaborative, hands-on learning or engineering environment.
