An Immersive Journey into the Secret Lives of Plants
Thursday, October 29 | 5:00 PM
Opening Reception | Harder Hall Immersive Room -
What if plants could make music? What if we could see the invisible beauty of the botanical world?
Join us for the opening of SONIC BOTANICA, an immersive art installation bringing together art, science, poetry, and music to explore the extraordinary world of plants.
See the invisible! Discover stunning microscopic botanical imagery from Microcosms, a project by Steven F. White that reveals the hidden beauty of plants, including species with medicinal, cultural, and spiritual significance.
Listen to the plants! Alfred University music students have transformed electrical signals from living plants into musical compositions. Come experience what plants have to say!
Experience poetry! Enjoy poetry by Nicaraguan poet Esthela Calderón, whose work celebrates the deep connections between humans, plants, and the natural world.
Bring your phone! Take photos against incredible botanical backgrounds and immerse yourself in a world of vibrant colors and microscopic wonders.
Celebrate with us! Enjoy food, take home free custom-designed botanical stickers, and connect with artists, students, and our visiting guests.
Free and open to the Alfred University community!
