Fluorescent Dirt: Patrick Brennan and Grace Sachi Troxell

Opening Reception Friday, July 7, 5-7pm at the Cohen Gallery. On view June 8 - July 25, 2023.

"Fluorescent Dirt" featuring the work of AU alumni and current faculty Patrick Brennan, and artist/ collaborator Grace Sachi Troxell, will be on display at the Cohen Gallery June 8 - July 25, with a reception Friday, July 7, 5-7pm. Summer hours are Wednesday - Saturday 11M to 2pm.

This exhibition of paintings and sculpture deals with notions around the culling of sources - natural and unnatural - for materials and their use as a guide for both artists’ rigorous studio investigations. The two artists bonded in graduate school at Cornell over David Batchelor’s book "Chromophobia", which opened up the space for them to collaborate and explore their respective materials of paint and clay. They continue this conversation with "Fluorescent Dirt".

Centrally located on Main Street in the village of Alfred, the Cohen Gallery is an educational art center, an ever-evolving creative hub and gathering space for students, faculty, and the community at large. The gallery presents artwork by School of Art and Design faculty, staff, visiting artists, alumni and facilitates community-based projects. Students assist in all aspects of gallery management including curation, exhibition design and gallery sales.
