Art Speaker Series - Shing Yin Khor
Shing Yin Khor is a game and theatre designer and cartoonist based in Los Angeles, CA, by way of Malacca, Malaysia. Their game design work centers around physical storytelling artifacts, divination mechanisms, and immigrant interpretations of nostalgic Americana, and is rooted in their work as a builder and artist - keepsake games centered on the bridge between physical making and traditional tabletop RPGs. Their live mail letter-writing game Remember August won the 2022 Indiecade Award for Best Tabletop Game. They lead the production collective Three Eyed Rat, which has built space desert apothecaries, decrepit space salvage stations in the forest, lumberjack-themed bars, and several new divination mechanisms.

They currently have work on display as part of Scene Shift: The Exhibition as the USC Fisher Museum of Art.

As a cartoonist, they have won the Eisner and Ignatz awards, and their second book, The Legend of Auntie Po, was a finalist for the National Book Award.
