The Alfred University School of Art and Design announces the schedule for Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibitions and Bachelor of Fine Arts exhibitions.

Alfred University School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division offers 1 day, 1, 2 & 4 week workshops June 26 - July 22, 2023 in a variety of media areas designed for participants working at all levels: artists, teachers, community members and visiting professionals.

The Alfred University School of Art and Design is sponsoring a residency program that will provide visiting artists of color opportunities to dive into their artistic research and practice, and creative artistic endeavors within the SoAD and Division of Performing Arts studios.

Artist-in-Residence April 24 - May 5. Born in Ukraine, Slinko is a multidisciplinary artist living in the US. While her practice is informed by scholarship on labor, agency, and ideology, her inspiration comes from interactions with ordinary people, localized contexts, and material culture.

The National Museum of Sweden will unveil on March 30 the exhibition Beauty and the Unexpected, an exhibition of American art from the 1950s to today that also features a dozen artists associated with Alfred University.

A dark intersectional comedy: Five women of color. A 'bachelor party' at a 5 Star hotel. No one was expecting the proverbial (and literal) cuts that they would ultimately inflict. Theatre Production directed by Asst. Prof of Theatre Jonathan Ziese. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Alfred Theatre Division's production of RICH B*TCH will be canceled on Thursday night March 30, 2023. A matinee will be presented SUNDAY APRIL 2, 2023 @ 2pm.

Trio from Three continents. Celebrating world heritage with Gao Hong, Kadialy Kouyaté and Leonard Jacome, show us Pipa(China), Kora(Senegal) and Harp( Venezuela), they will do workshop and concert with free admission.

MFA Thesis exhibitions from the Division of Ceramic Art (CA), Electronic Integrated Arts (EIA) and Sculpture / Dimensional Studies (SDS) are held in the Fosdick-Nelson and Robert C. Turner Galleries weekly from April 8 - May 5, 2023 with receptions on Saturdays from 6-8pm, with the exception of the last exhibition, which will open on Friday. Open Gallery hours during thesis season are Sunday 1-3pm, Monday & Tuesday 11-4pm.

The Alfred Art Walk, third Thursday of every month, will take place on Thursday, April 20 from 5-8pm and features arts events and open venues.

Community members are invited to join in a live drumming performance facilitated by the NYC-based, Anisco African Drum Group. The experience will begin with a collaboration with the Confucius Institute as the drummers accompany majestic dragon dancers in the Hot Dog Day Parade.

Music Program Presents a Music Student Recital. The Performing Arts Division at Alfred University will present a Student Recital on Sunday, April 30th at 3p.m. in Miller Theater. This event is free and open to the public.

The reception for the class of 2023 Senior Show exhibition, taking place throughout Harder Hall, Binns-Merrill Hall and the Cohen Center, will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 4-8pm.

Judith Olson Gregory’s layered wall hangings, constructed from tea bags and other delicate fibers, embedded text and layered patterns, reference iconic women and ask poignant, philosophical questions. The exhibition is on view through May 8, 2023. The gallery is open weekdays 11am - 4pm, and weekends 1-3pm.
