Mehdi Kabir, assistant professor of mechanical engineering in Alfred University’s Inamori School of Engineering, has been named recipient of the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Award for 2026.
Kabir was recognized in two categories: the Editorial Contribution Award and the Author Service Award. The awards cite his outstanding editorial contributions to the journal Scientific Reports, published by Nature Portfolio, which is one of the most-cited journals in the world.
The awards honor editors who demonstrate exceptional dedication to improving the author experience, careful evaluation of submissions through strong stewardship of the peer review process, and ensuring a fair, constructive, and efficient editorial workflow.
Kabir had been previously recognized as Springer Nature Editor of Distinction under the category of Author Service Award in 2025.
