Who in your student body has been Outside of Ordinary? Who has lent a helping hand to those that need it most; had to work to help support their family; made a difficult decision to give up something so they could complete their coursework or add something to their resume; been the star athlete and part of theatre and/or chorus; demonstrated who they are as an individual and will bring that same inspiration to the Alfred University community?

If you know a student that fits that description, Alfred University might be a great place for them. Based on the nomination from a school counselor, principal or nominating committee, one current junior from every high school will be eligible for the AU Scholars Award

The selected recipient will receive $30,000 per year or, for New York State students only, $18,000 per year if enrolling in our School of Art and Design, Biomaterials Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Glass Engineering Science or Materials Science and Engineering programs.

Scholarship Qualifications:

  • Student nominees must be taking a course of study that is college preparatory in scope
  • Student must have achieved an overall 3.0 GPA, or equivalent, at the time of nomination
  • Student must complete and submit their Alfred University application by December 1 of their senior year

Alfred University has always been considered “Outside of Ordinary.” Not only were we one of the first higher education institutions in the United States to admit women to programs where they could take courses alongside men, but our commitment to inclusivity continues to be part of our mission to this day. Life at AU is far from ordinary, and we invite you to introduce one of your extraordinary students to what we can offer.
