Summer at Alfred University is a time for exploration, creativity, and meaningful learning—for students of all ages and experience levels. Through Summer at Alfred, the University offers a diverse range of programs that invite middle school and high school students, as well as adult learners, to develop skills, explore new interests, and experience Alfred’s vibrant campus community.

From academic and sports clinics to immersive arts workshops, Alfred’s summer programs are united by a hands-on approach to learning and a deep commitment to creative discovery.

Summer Programs for High School Students

Alfred University offers pre-college programs and sports clinics designed primarily for high school students exploring academic, creative, engineering, or athletic interests. Programs reflect Alfred University’s strengths in experiential learning and are taught by faculty members and coaches.

Each year, the Office of Summer Programs typically offers:

Summer Programs Wheel Throwing

Residential options allow students to stay in residence halls, dine on campus, and participate in supervised social and recreational activities, offering an authentic preview of college life.

Creative Workshops for Adult Learners

Alfred University’s summer offerings extend well beyond pre‑college programs. Summer Arts at Alfred provides immersive arts workshops specifically designed for adults, including artists, educators, alumni, working professionals, and lifelong learners seeking focused creative time.

Held on Alfred’s campus and select off‑site locations, these workshops invite participants to engage deeply in their artistic practice while learning from accomplished artists and educators in well‑equipped studios. Workshops are offered at various skill levels, with many open to both beginners and advanced practitioners. 

Workshop areas include:

Participants benefit from small class sizes, expert instruction, and access to Alfred’s nationally recognized art and design facilities. Participants can enroll in week‑long or multi‑week workshops, with optional on‑campus housing and meal plans that allow them to fully engage in the experience.
