Robert Fant

robert fantDr. Robert Fant is Associate Professor of Horn at CUHK, Shenzhen-School of Music. He has studied and performed across the world. Dr. Fant has held positions on every continent (except Antarctica!), recorded for SONY, BBC, Apple TV, Netflix, DG, Naxos. Fant is also the horn faculty for Rocky Ridge Music Center in Colorado. Dr. Fant has held positions with the London Chamber Orchestra (mozart), Atlantic Classical, Teatro Municipal de Santiago, Philharmonie der Nationes (Berlin), Auckland, Verbier, and the Symphony Orchestra of India. Performed as a guest with; i.e. Halle, BBC Philharmonic, NCPA (Beijing), Taiwan National, LPO, Wiesbaden, Thuringer Symponiker, Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, Hannover, Boston Pops, IRIS, Boston, San Antonio, Indianapolis, Dallas Wind, Alabama, Spokane, Memphis, Arkansas , OKC, Portland, LSO(London), Royal Ballet(UK), Opera North(UK), RSNO(Scotland), BBC, Bavarian Orchestra(Germany). He was an apprentice with the Vienna Philharmonic(Attergau) under Wolfgang Tombock. These experiences have led to collaborations with great conductors, soloists, artists, and an admiration of how music changes the world.

Dr. Fant maintains a performance career and will make his Carnegie recital debut in 2024. Recent performances include Steinway Artist, Wigmore Hall, and the Aspen Festival Recital series. He can be heard on many labels i.e. DG, NAXOS, BBC Radio, BBC TV, Apple TV, Netflix, Medici, Reference Recordings, and NPR Radio. He is a the recent winner for the Classical Music Award and Charleston International Competition. Dr. Fant has been a part of awards for Lesser Foundation, International Horn Society, and a Qantas. He is the only horn on the SONY-Film “The Tattooist” and was multi-tracked for the score. He has soloed or premiered new works with orchestras; North State Symphony, Denton Orchestra, National Orchestra, Kolkata Symphony Orchestra, North England Institute Orchestra. Chamber premieres at Wigmore, Cadogan Hall, and with Eric Ewazen in the USA. He is an adjudicator of competitions and a member of the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest horn choir recorded(Belgium 2019).
