Shotaro Mori

shotaro moriShotaro Mori, Bassoon, originally hails from Fukuoka, Japan, and has made New York City his home since 1996. He is an active freelancer in NYC and a member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in MA. Shotaro completed his studies at the Mannes College of Music, where he received full scholarship and won the first prize in the Concerto Competition for woodwinds, brass and percussion. He has performed with groups such as the New York Philharmonic Chamber Ensemble, the Jupiter Symphony, the New York Philomusica, the Charleston Symphony Orchestra, the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and the Eroica Ensemble in Memphis, TN. As a soloist, he has appeared with numerous orchestras in USA and Japan including the Orchestra of the Bronx, where he performed Mozart Concerto last year. He has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the Virgin Atlantic Holders Festival in Barbados and the Asian Youth Orchestra in Hong-Kong. He is a faculty for the Summertrios Chamber Music Festival. He studied with Bernard Garfield, Leonard Hindell and Ryohei Nakagawa.
