Jeanne Sperber

Flutist Jeanne Murray Sperber has performed extensively in New York and abroad. As a soloist, she performed in New York City at numerous venues, including Trinity Church, Carnegie’s Weill Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. She toured Latin America twice as a concerto soloist, including a U.S. State Department-sanctioned concert in Cuba for a rare cultural exchange in 1986. Since moving to the Southern Tier of New York, she has performed regularly in Binghamton, Ithaca, and Syracuse. Currently, she is performing as imProva, a duo with cellist Steve Stalker. Together, they are exploring a fusion of improvised and written music.

As an orchestral flutist, she has performed with the National Orchestra of New York, Bronx Opera Orchestra and Symphony, Williamsport Symphony, Binghamton Philharmonic, Tri Cities Opera, and Syracuse Symphony. She has been critically acclaimed for "...her brilliant, as usual, display of musicianship", Williamsport Sun-Gazette. Currently, she serves as principal flute of the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes and is a resident artist of the MostArts Summer Music Festival in Alfred, NY.

She attended conservatory in New York City at the Manhattan School of Music, where she was a scholarship student of Thomas Nyfenger. Her postgraduate performance studies were in England at the Royal Northern College of Music with Trevor Wye.
