Color From Nature - Flora, Fauna and Fungi 7/15 - 7/19

Creative Ways to Apply Color to Natural Fiber Yarns & Fabrics with Debra MacCrea and Tonya Pettit.

Exploring the range of color potential from nothing more than Nature's offerings, students will experience traditional immersion dyeing, as well as methods both old and new of adding surface design to fabrics. These can include direct application of thickened dyes and mordants (fixatives), resist techniques like Shibori and various paste resists, rust dyeing and eco-printing. Planting, growing, harvesting, foraging and preparation of dyebaths will also be covered, along with safety and environmental issues.

All levels; beginners encouraged.
