Introduction to Foundry: Aluminum Casting 7/15 - 7/19

With Rhiannon Scheidt.

This workshop for middle and high school teachers introduces participants to the properties, chemistry and processes associated with casting. Critical processes are covered in detail with hands-on casting, metallurgy, and inspection techniques employed to ensure participants leave with a lasting understanding and knowledge to employ with their students.

Participants will work with basic molds to create a unique bowl of their own design. Participants will assist with running the aluminum furnace to safely melt and pour molten metal and work.

With generous funding from the Emerson Foundation, this workshop, including room and board, is $100.
