Tile: Exploring Digital Methods 6/24 - 7/5

This workshop will use digital design software to explore tile design and involve multiple production techniques appropriate for a home or school studio. Students will use CAD software including Rhino and Grasshopper to develop patterns and digital prototypes. Models will be made using laser cutting, FFF 3D printing, CNC milling or direct modelling of materials. Multiple production techniques will be discussed and explored including press molding, air release molds, slabs and direct modeling of relief tile. Multiple methods for glazing and surface decoration will be demonstrated along with processes for mounting and installing tile in home and gallery spaces.

All levels, some experience needed.
