Alfred University will host the AUEnergy on Thursday, Oct. 29. The event features a day of demonstrations and a student poster session focusing on engineering and research in the energy sector as well as tours of energy research facilities in the Inamori School of Engineering.
After opening remarks at 9:45 a.m. from David Gottfried, director of the Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT) at Alfred University, attendees will attend demonstrations in Seidlin Hall on a solar flasher, a device which can measure the energy harvesting capabilities of photovoltaic (PV) cells; wind tunnel research; and glass. Those demonstrations, given in two sections, will be from 10-10:30 a.m. and 10:30-11 a.m.
A group of approximately 10 students will present their research during a poster session from 11-11:30 in the CREATE Center, McMahon Engineering Building.
After the poster session, there will be tours in McMahon of the GE Vernova Advanced Power Grid Lab (11:30-11:50 a.m.); the Edibon Power Systems Simulation Lab (11:50 a.m.-12:10 p.m.), and the battery testing lab (12:10-12:30 p.m.)
The event ends with lunch from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Ade Dining Hall.
