An Interdisciplinary Program

What Is Materials Science and Engineering?

Materials science and engineering examines how the structure of materials shapes their properties and performance. In this interdisciplinary field, students explore materials such as ceramics, glass, metals, and polymers, studying how they behave, interact, and can be improved. They also learn to design and manufacture new materials using advanced processing and manufacturing techniques, connecting scientific principles to real-world applications across industries.
