"Pour" At The Foundry: Alfred Alumni Council Awards

A unique opportunity to witness a bronze pour and casting will take place at the Foundry in the Sculpture Dimensional Studies Division on Friday, May 13th. A team of students in the Sculpture Dimensional Studies program will be casting the Alfred Alumni Council Awards designed by Sculpture/Dimensional Studies graduate student Tomas Penc. The pour will be directed by Sculpture Professor Coral Lambert.

Dean of the School of Art & Design + Performing Arts Division Lauren Lake and team were commissioned by Vice President Erin Martinovich and her University Advancement team to identify a student-designed, unique work of art from the Sculpture/Dimensional Studies program to reinvigorate the University Advancement Division's Alumni Council Awards program. This summer will mark the first Alumni Council Award being given.

The pour of the 2,300-degree Fahrenheit molten metal into the award design molds will take place promptly at 11:45am at the Foundry, located in the Sculpture Annex by Binns-Merrill Hall Loading Dock. Observation space will be limited, but all are welcome to attend.
